What is Credit Assurance?
If an employee should die unexpectedly or become disabled (permanently or temporarily), he or she may have an outstanding loan than needs to be repaid. That's when credit assurance steps in and takes care of the debt.
- The borrower and lender are protected against specified eventualities by paying the balance of the outstanding loan
- The installments payable are covered in respect of the loan for a specified period (for temporary conditions)
- As a borrower you can more easily obtain credit, as the lender does not take on more risk
- Borrower's estate remains intact in the event of death or disability
- The benefit is paid directly to the credit institution
